New Beginning
Every September feels like a new beginning, a fresh start for students around the world, as the new academic year brings the promise of new opportunities. It is no different here at King Ling College, where we are experiencing notable changes—some larger than others. Since 1994, King Ling College has witnessed transformations in the neighbourhood, including the addition of the MTR, new residences being built, and an influx of new residents. Each change alters the dynamics of our community in small ways that we may never fully see nor recognize. KLC has transformed as well. This transformation reflects the commitment, hardships, and dedication of all stakeholders throughout these 31 years. It will continue, much like a new branch reaching out to stretch toward the sun.
The new academic year, to me, embodies positivity sprinkled with hidden opportunities for personal growth.
I encourage everyone at KLC to stay positive. A positive attitude is essential; it guides us to run faster and fly higher. Being optimistic is a mindset that supports us through difficult times. Visualizing our goals can be a powerful motivator. Regardless of where our imagination takes us, we must embark on that journey by taking action and holding ourselves accountable for our own learning. Let’s take responsibility for whom we will become. We should strive to be people of character, contributing to our families, the ethos of the school, and the greater good of society. We are good examples of transforming from “ME” to “WE.”
I also urge everyone at KLC to seize opportunities. Be prepared. Serendipitous opportunities are always near. We must prepare ourselves ahead of others. Together, we stand. We must work harder, smarter, and braver. I do not want to see any students merely coasting through the year, and then the next, until graduation. The greatest loss is the person who doesn’t take the chance to be great or who is paralyzed by fear or shyness. Do not let our comfort zones limit us. Explore our potential and push ourselves to be the best we can be.
In the process of transformation, there will be tears and bruises. But I can guarantee that there will also be more laughter and love. We will make mistakes, but we will learn from them and grow stronger!
Remember, the sky’s the limit.
