King Ling Identity

 

March is a high-spirited season for King Ling. Our School Foundation Day lands on 2 March, and thus, Kontiki Week is always organized in early March. Kontiki Week is a cultural exchange week in which we invite principals, teachers and students of our sister schools to celebrate with King Ling. This year, Wuxi Big Bridge Academy (Wuxi), Satit Bangna School (Bangkok), Youngil High School (Seoul) and Taipei Minglun High School (Taipei) participated in Kontiki Week 2026. They not only attended lessons and played friendly matches with us, but they also performed with our student leaders and teachers in the School Gala.

 

Our theme of School Gala 2026 is 'King Ling College: Forward with Courage.' It totally captures our spirit! Both the Putonghua drama and the S2 Choir beautifully showed us that while staying in a 'utopia' feels safe, the real magic happens when we move forward, like Ellie and her mother Katherine in the English musical. By teaching King Ling students to step out of their comfort zones, the school empowers them to write their own incredible stories. The adventure might be tough sometimes, but they have got this! Each King Ling student can create their own amazing journey. I am truly proud of King Ling students for their perseverance and talents. I am thankful to all devoted teachers who equip each student for their own fantastic journey.

 

Identity is how we define ourselves. Every nation carries their unique qualities to build their identity. King Ling works hard, plays hard and connects with the world. Secondary school is a place to groom young adults. Other than academic credibility, teenagers need platforms to showcase their talents, teamwork, communication skills and organization skills. Students for sure encounter frustration, disappointment and hardship from everyday life. However, all these challenges transform King Ling students into more resilient and passionate people. This is our journey and this is our identity.
