Tuesday SCMP News Reading Sessions

A total of 12 reading sessions were conducted throughout the academic year. As a bi-weekly task, students were required to read the assigned newspaper articles and prepare for the discussion questions given. The chosen articles, both local and international ones, introduced a wide variety of topics. Through reading the news and answering discussion questions, students could improve their worldliness, enhance their vocabulary, and raise their awareness of various literary devices that journalists often use, such as puns in the titles and inferences made. Developing a habit of reading authentic English materials, students could enhance their social awareness and critical thinking skills.
